Needs a Little More... Terrapin Shot

I like this shot but I think it needs a little more.
First shot is straight from the camera, second is my attempt, feel free to post your attempt

It's a bit small to try and do anyhting with. If it was my photo I might try cropping it so that the little fella wasn't bang in the middle. Try taking off some of the left and bottom of the image. Also, with the edit you have done, I'm not sure about desaturating the foliage in the top right corner, as it just merges with the sky reflections in the water. If anything, I think I would boost the saturation slightly so that it serves as a counterpoint to your main subject.
 
I think I would go with something like this, a crop to move the terrapin from the centre, and a little shadow highlights tweek. I might also push up the couours with a bit of extra saturation but I haven't done that here.

That works for me. It almost looks as if the little fella is eyeing up the vegetation for supper and is thinking to himself "Now, how am I going to get over there?"
 
Ok how's this..

Adjusted the crop..
Sharpen/saturate the two main focus points of the terrapin and the plant..
Adjusted the shadows/highlishts of the pond to make the reflections stand out...

Did you have another thread with this image in? I'm sure I've responded to this.

Anyhow, the crop is much better and there's an implied line from the terrapin to the floating leaves fro the eye to follow along.
