Yes
Im sat here writing up a few reviews and ive got the TV on to reduce the boredom, ive noticed that I camera spot all the time...

Ive spotted 1dmkIIn w/400mm during a football match, 5D and 1dsmkII during an awards show red carpet event and I think I just spotted a 1dsmkII, 50mmf1.4 and 580EX during a D&G advert....

Anyone else do the same thing? I also find myself Mac Spotting, which is equally odd and becoming easier all the time.

Yeah I do that all the time, and when I'm out and about up town :)

Also a Mac spotter, usually see them down the park on the floor or near lamposts! :p

It's true that you notice what you are interested in.
For me it's cute young things in short skirts....

(some people might need to get out a bit more - IMHO :D)

i do it too LOL

camera snobbery too when people pull out a P&S :D

Hadnt thought about it like that... i think your right i need to get out more.

Im a sufferer also :D

Do you think theres any hope ;)

Yes there is hope for you - one step at a time though... Create a virutal world in which an image of your front door (taken from the inside, of course) features... Then practice opening it and looking outside now and again... (You won't need to render any of the outside world though - it MIGHT look like something from the Yellow Submarine, for all you know...)

Repeat this until you feel brave enough to open the REAL door! ;)

(Sorry, getting my coat on now...) :exit:

 ROFLMAO

Nope, you're definitely not alone, I do it too.

I also did it extensively during the airing of "Im a Celebrity", when they were booted out of camp and faced the press on the walkoff, I kept looking at the cameras and the lenses, picking out what was there :D

And on either Panorama or the news (not sure which - I wasn't really watching - just keeping an eye on it so I half knew what the Other Half was swearing at) there was a Nikon taking a mugshot of a criminal. Sorry, I should have said a Nikon taking a NOISY mugshot of a criminal! :D

:canon:

Back in the knife drawer with you!

I'm getting my own back on Arkady for the Clio driver comment on another thread! :p

And, now I come to think of it, On Ven too.......! :p:p

Oi (again !) ... you might think I am not as dangerous as Rob ... :suspect:

But be warned ... I've fired canons with more devastating results than any owned here ... :naughty:

Mounted on a tank ...

:D

:p

Must have been sometime ago if they were using cannons on tanks

(bet you've got one of those big cotton buds for loading shot with :D)

;)

Yeah, the MOD give 'em Nikonns now

And I was thinking you couldnt give Nikons away :p

;)

Oh that is so true

Must admit to being a Canon L lens spotter myself, and those damn Nikon on CSI

:canon:

Loving the Canon / Nikon thing going on here.

Perhaps there should be a shoot off! And let the forum goers decide.

Back to thread subject: Yep! Me too.

yup, im guilty of it too, and guitars, and stuff that we make here...

:agree: with HuN ... seems to have gone a little astray this thread does ... apologies to DreederUk ... :D

So ... I think it is a natural trait of our species ... you own something you take pride in ... it is then mentally automatic to pick it out of the bunch in everday situations ... can be very annoying though ...

I used to work on the highway many years ago ... installing and maintaining highway lighting, cabling and signage ... still find myself looking up at the damn things whenever I am out and about ... ... how bleedin' annoying is that ... :help:

Good thread Dreeder ... ... :D
