i've just been bought a celestron nexstar 4se telescope for christmas and want to do some astrophotography with it. the manual says you can buy a 't' adapter to screw onto the camera instead of the lens but with having the fuji s9600 the lens dosn't screw off! i've seen a few adapter plates that you can buy so wanted to ask if anyone has done this before and what is the best way to do it!!

I believe you can even get adapters for point and shoot cameras. It's probably best to give one of the suppliers a ring for advice.
 
What's wrong with good-ol Google. :shrug:

I googled 'telescope adapter' and several came up, Nikon or Canon.

telescope adapters are pretty specific. As the Fuji is not an SLR with removable lenses it's a whole different ballgame.
 
The T adapter is for an SLR. I think you will have to get a special mount for others. They usually screw into or around the eyepiece so if it is a std size you should be OK.

i did google telescope adapter but most of them are for dslr's with removable lenes. :bang:
 
You want a digiscope adaptor. Something like this: http://firstlightoptics.com/proddetail.php?prod=swinivcamadaptor

Your camera will also need to be able to do long exposures (seconds+ at a time). In reality, with the 4se, you'll be limited to planets and the moon as they are quite bright.

Astrophotography is an expesnive hobby - be warned ;)
 
I am going to say that you will find it difficult to use your fuji with your new scope, the problems are going to be with the overall size of the camera and the fact it has a 10x zoom, even if you were able to get an adapter to fit, i think you will find you will get heavy vignetting. I would suggest that you look at getting a t mount and something like a canon 350d or an slr like that to get you into it,
