I need a bit of info on a lens i am thinking of buying, it s the Canon EF 300mm f/4. L USM. I will use it for them longer shots on the football pitch that the 200mm can't catch. If their is anyone out their that is using one or knows a little bit about the 300mm lens would you pass some info on to me.

they where all taken with the 300 f4 your asking about... a 400 f5.6 isnt going to be much use for football accept for sunny days... the 300f4 wont be much use nights or winter dull days.. hmm you might get away with it using a mkIII thouhg:)

I have the 300 f4L non IS and with a 1.4 TC, get 420mm f5.6, take it off, get a 300mm again. :)

If you can afford the 400mm, go for it but the 300 f4L has superb IQ when wide open and definately I lens I would not get rid of. Its quick AF and light construction make handholding a joy. Using a TC does not affect IQ much. :)

If you were closer, I would let you borrow mine. :lol:
