Telephoto Lens Change

Hi guys,

as i'm going from crop sensor to full frame shortly I don't think my 70-200L F4 canon lens will give me enough reach (motorsports).

I have read the Tamron 70-300 F4-5.6 VC is a good lens and is actually quite a bit cheaper (I could trade in as i'm trading my 60D for a 6D too this week).

Might be lens snobbery but would this be a wise move? Feels a little wrong trading in L glass for non-L glass, lol

Sigma 150 - 600 contemporary is what you need.

As long as it's not too long on the low end that is.

I agree with the others. I'm a huge fan of the 70-200 Canon l lenses - however if you are concerned about reach, best to go all out and aim for 600mm. The difference between 2/300 on FF isn't that huge imo.

There's really no advantage of going to a full frame sensor if it means you also have to go to a longer/slower lens...
That said, I am quite fond of the Sigma 60-600, but it is quite a bit heavier than some of the other options.
