Yes
Turns out 50-200 isn't a long enough zoom for what I want and teleconvertors seem a quick and cheapish way of doubling it.

Do these actually work or is it a bit of a bodge?

Dont know the camera or lens but many will not auto focus with a tele converter on. Also many lenses will simply not fit on many converters.

An 1.4x TC would make your lens 70-280mm and it will have much worse quality and speed than a 70-300mm lens that you can probably buy for no more than the cost of the 1.4x TC + what you will get for selling your 50-200mm.

Yep that's the one.

Didn't think I'd get much for it as it's essentially a kit lens which most people would already own a version of?

The other option would be to look at a bit higher again, the sigma 120-400 or older 135-400, or 150-500/50-500 - only saying sigmas as I know they do pentax compatible!

From what I've seen the 55-200 seems to be regarded as one of the better kit lenses.

Don't know how much the ones for Pentax will go for though, I suppose the market will be smaller than the nikon or canons, but then again therefore they'd come up 2nd hand less.. who knows!

Can't find any on ebay as current or completed to compare even.
