I've done some searching on the internet and can't find a teleconverter for u4/3?

Do they not exist?

I was thinking of adding a 2x teleconverter to my Lumix G2 paired with the 45-200mm.

Due to the sensor size and crop factor 2x, that gives me a fl of 400mm.

I was thinking with a 2x teleconverter, I can push it to 800mm....

or have i got that completely wrong?? as I've never read or saw a similar setup?

Haven't seen one either, I used to have a Panasonic G1 but sold it wanting more reach after waiting ages for the 100-300mm to be released.

Have you thought about the 100-300mm? It will get you to 600mm equivalent at least.

Sell the 45-200mm and combine this with the money you would have paid for a 2x tele and you should be mostly there to be able to get the 100-300mm and it would probably produce better images anyway and focus faster since you will be losing 2 stops with the 2x.

m4/3 tcs don't exist, and the 4/3 ones aren't compatible with Panasonic, but the Oly Pens can use them. 100-300 should me more than enough reach though.

yep...but then I'll lose the 45-100mm range, which also comes in to use...

and I think the 100-300mm is much more expensive than the 45-200mm..

Yes, I suppose 300mm would be more than enough, but I simply can not afford it, especially with all the money I spend over my current setup.

I was hoping for the 2x teleconverter trick to work wit my 45-200mm..

Why is it that m4/3 tcs do not exist?

Thanks

anyone?

I was hoping some one can enlighten me as to the reason TCs for u4/3 do not exist?

Thanks

:D

you know that doesn't answer my question...

I was asking if they were physically possible?

Anything should be physically possible regarding m43 TC's, it just seems Pany don't want to go down that route, it would be quite expensive also, and may not work with Pany lenses as these have OIS, only reason I can think of.
As has been said, the 4/3 TC's do work on Oly m43 bodies but not Pany, bit of a bummer but there you go.
It is like the Oly ZD12-60 AF's on the Oly m43 bodies but not on Pany, can't see why not myself but Pany chose not to recognize 12-60 for AF on some m43 bodies.(i believe the GH2 does though.... strange, and infuriating)

Oh...didnt know that..

So TCs do not work with lenses that have OIS in them?

Probably because TCs are mainly designed to be used with fast super-telephoto primes such as a 300 f2.8 - and there aren't any of those for M43.

Using a TC on an already slow zoom lens, on cameras with often relatively limited high ISO performance, is going to make getting a good enough shutter speeds a bit of a struggle, and focussing would be fairly poor.

Ok...I got that...I guess now I understand...thanks for clearing that up...

If I understood correctly, The Panasonic offerings (100-300mm and 45-200mm) are slow lenses, so with a TC they would even lose more aperture, a stop for example, which will make them very dark and impossible to AF reliably?
