Hi,
I've searched the forum but can't find an exact answer to my question. So i'm posting!
I just got a Canon 600D and a Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Lens. I also have a Canon 18-55mm kit lens which came with the camera. I wanted to get a teleconverter for the Sigma lens for wildlife photos, but it seems that most TC's won't work with the sigma lens. Are there any that do? Am I wasting my time? :)
I don't have the funds for an expensive telephoto lens at the moment. I thought this would be a work around.
any guidance appreciated.

thanks
:)

You would need to get something like a Kenko Teleplus converter but to be honest you'd be wasting your money as neither of your lenses would do well with a converter attached.

thanks for the quick reply. I'm not bothered about using it for the kit lens, only the super-zoom. I realise they are not at all perfect, but it would work though? 150GBP is a lot better than 800 for a bigger lens!!
thanks

No it won't work very well at all on either of your lenses, you will lose autofocus and the images will be poor. You would probably be better off trying to by a secondhand longer lens than using a TC. Still it's your money.

even with just a 1.4x TC you end up with an f/9 lens at the long end, probably with terrible image quality.

Have a look at a used sigma 120-400 OS, that probably the cheapest way into telephotos.

Image quality won't be fantastic in absolute terms, but if you stop down a bit, you can get great images out of them. Can't think of a cheaper 400mm with HSM, OS and decent build quality like the sigma.

look for canon 100-400mm maybe. expensive but will give you 400mm x1.6=640mm on your crop camera with f/5.6.
