Hi...wondering if i could have some advice on 2x Teleconverters, are they worth investing in?
Was thinking of getting one to fit onto my 75-300 lens as a "stop gap" measure(for if i see something that the 300mm won't quite reach),i know i will lose some stops ,i would like to get either a 50-500 or a 150-500 lens..but they are expensive for me at the moment.
thanks :-)

If it's an EF-s lens it wont fit!

75 - 300 lenes are EF not EFS! A genuine Canon EF extender won't work with this lens, so you will need to look at a kenko converter. If you go for 1.4 x coverter you will lose 1 stop and possubly AF.

A x2 converter is too much; you will lose 2 stops, so your max aperture is now f11. this will make focusing difficult and camera shake will be major problem as you will need to use slower shutter speeds

The 75-300 is generally recognised as one of Canon's worst for image quality. Adding a 2x TC will magnify all the bad bits to make the image terrible. Add that to the fact that your lens would now be f11 and manual-focus only and you'd soon find yourself

Thanks for info Frank :-)...If the 75-300 is recognised as the worst for image quality, that might explain why a picture i had taken of a deer a while back looked utterly rubbish..the lens came with the camera,it was a twin lens kit...only wish i had known of this forum before i bought it.oh well lol!:-)
