Thinking of upgrading my tv etc......do I go for a smart tv and run it of internet with a sonos speaker system.....don't need live tv as I am never in to watch it so rely on catchup quite a bit or do I need to rethink to some of your suggestions.... :D

If you are single obviously you go for a complete 5.1 surround sound package including kick-ass stand alone sub woofer (The Chinooks in Lone Survivor sounded awesome). If you are married, you may be allowed to get a soundbar.
Would have thought all TVs these days are smart so thats not really a question.

I already have a Sony 5.1 system already and the missus hates it as it takes up so much room with speakers and the neighbors aren't that keen either :D especially when watching war movies......

I seen a Sonos system in action yesterday....amazing but not for movies....

I thought all tv were smart but they are not.....some are geared to just 3d

Personally I'm not overly convinced by smart TVs for the long term, it's like buying a car with a built in sat nav that 3 years down the line looks horrendously dated compared to a current smart phone/stand alone satnav.

What do you currently use to watch catchup tv with?

I use my Samsung 40 inch with chrome cast but I damaged the screen and it is a bit weird looking and it is quite old.....just time for a change I think

So you don't currently use a standalone set-top box for catchup? In which case another smart tv would keep the number of devices/remotes down (which IME seems to get brownie points from the missus)

I have a Smart TV and Sonos Bar. If you have the money then get it ;)

Is the Sonos really worth the investment

That's a very difficult question to answer.

It gives beautiful sound for my TV, looks fantastic and links in to the rest of my Sonos system. If I want I can stick a couple of Play3s at the back, hit some buttons and have surround sound but even without that it gives me a decent pretend surround sound. However, it costs £600 ;)

Do you have a more specific question?
