Yes
i,m not a team player apparently.
started work at seven.at 4.30, our transport manager rings me. asks me to do a run to lichfield when i return to the yard.door to door, about 3 hours on average.
i say , no i cant, archery club agm tonight.he winges.
when i get back in the yard , i get a lecture about not being a team player.resisted the temptation to use the word b******s.then i loaded my truck for another guy to do the run.
then went down the road for another collection.
finished 6.26. drove straight to the AGM.
i only average 51 hrs most weeks.
unload trucks for drivers while the forklift drivers take their breaks.
load trucks in a morning while forkies have a fag.
park trucks for drivers who wanna get off earlier.
regularly help load the night trailer.
nope. not a team player.
t**t. (you can think that says twit if you like).

Ah but he means 'his team' not yours! Management are all the same no matter where you work, they never remember the good stuff you do unless they want you to do more.

But if you drive anything with a tacho in it ( do you?) from what I remember from my truckie days you would be breaking the law surely

51 hours? Slacker!! :exit:

Only joking.... It's just as bad where I work. I'm expected to work an 8 hour day (usually with no break as I don't get time), then the labour ward will think nothing of asking me to work a night shift that night as I'm on call anyway and they are short staffed. They usually slag you off when you say no  So much for the caring NHS!

Do you constantly exceed 48hours a week? If so, your firms in breach of the RTD. (Unless of course you`re self employed)

48hours a week averaged over a 4 month reference period. I know when the recovery industry came in line with all the tacho regs (outside the 100km operating area) we had to change our staff`s working paterns as previously they were only subject to Uk Domestic regs.

nope. you can WORK upto 15 hrs. just to prove it, i did the hub run last night. 14 1/2 hr shift. then back in at 7 this morning for a 12 hr total.
with PoA and breaks my average is 47.85 hrs so far in this 26 week period. i work on average 52 hrs.checked my wage slips.and i,m on local work.
AND the arse wants us to work 1 weekend in 5. hes got a big shock coming next weekend when its my turn on.:bonk:
wtd is gonna come and bite some of our drivers on the arse shortly. despite cocerns from the drivers, and mangers claims they are monitoring the situation, i know some drivrs are topping 60 hrs EVERY week.
5 years ago i was on general haulage. 2-3 nights out a week and 60+ all the time. thats why i went on local work.
seriously thinking of a change of career.
specialy now i have a PROPER forky licence

The management and the company won't be bothered, it's the drivers responsibility to stick to the working/driving time rules and it's the driver who has to pay the fines if they get caught.

I was in Finland recently and they have a nice little rule. It's possible to work upto 18 hrs but you can't return until the same time has elapsed. Seems to make the management think twice about overdoing it.

rumour has it , that the EU are bringing in a max 12 hour shift ruling. cant happen soon enough.
whilst drivers do potentialy get fines for overdoing wtd hours. owners /management face bigger penalties for ALLOWING their drivers to work more than allowed .
such as BIG fines and curtailment or suspension of their operators licence.no "O" licence, no company.
i know NFT were hammered last year , when their union bods complianed to VOSA.

Management are all the same no matter where you work, they never remember the good stuff you do unless they want you to do more.

Well maybe you've never had any decent Managers....

I am part of my team, and wouldn't ask any of them to do something I wouldn't do myself. Also, I'd make sure that I know which days my guys must get away early, that way it doesn't leave me in the mire...

If somebody in my team wants to play on his own, then that's fine too; as long as they realise that nobody will cover them when they need it.

Decent managers are hard to find. Sometimes when somebody gets promoted they forget how they got there....
