Team Nikon or Canon

Ahhh but you wouldn't go on safari in a Honda civic and you wouldn't take a shogun to a track day

I wouldnt go on safari in a shogun either

Im on a D90 so im a nikon but im looking at canon because there so much cheaper? anyone feel the same?

You say canon are cheaper. The bodies are a tad cheaper but when you look at the lens canon 'L' range are more expensive that the Nikons

For example:

Canon 5d 2 is £1670 and Nikon D700 is £1800

Canon 70-200 £1870 and Nikon 70-200 is £1600

6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other!

People say Nikon bodies are better but canon lens are better personally I think it was you feel is more comfortable.

I just changed from Nikon to canon all because I went in my local store to look at a lens and they did not have it in the Nikon. So, I asked if I could look at the canon version just to see sharpness etc and I feel in love with the canon body, just felt more comfortable!

so long as the clutch didnt go ( we had one where i used to work and the clutch plates appear to be made of soft cheese)

but that aside your commparisons not really a brand thing - you wouldnt go on safari in a mistubuishi GT or take a honda crv to a track day either

its more like comparing the 5D and the 7D or the D300 and the D700

I just don't see what gives either Canon or Nikon a significant edge over the other for any type of photography. They each produce a similar range of kit, and leading pro photographers as a whole don't seem to favour one or the other, across all types of photography where a DSLR is the correct tool.

I don't really care, nikon and cannon are **** anyway :D olympus are the leaders of the pack by a country mile! Household brands only follow in the masterful footsteps of olympus as it proudly strides across cameraland crushing anything that gets under its feet.
And its run by gangsters so therefore 50% cooler than anything else lmfao

It's all about the 12" behind, not the name on the front:)

Canon / Nikon, who cares. They are just tools that do a job of capturing light.

It's up to you to find the light, compose the scene nicely blah blah. I'd try both in the hands, find out which one is more comfortable is the sensible approach. Personally I don't care how it feels or how the menus work, I compare specs and lenses.

Only Nikon had a FF fast FPS camera which is a good all rounder and also have the sensational 14-24 f/2.8 - decision over. Coming from Canon its all backwards but no big deal, I'll get there.

This could go on for some time!

For what it's worth I'm in the Nikon camp and can't see me moving away from it. For me the Nikon looked more user friendly from a beginners point of view and now I've got all Nikon gear there is no way I'll ever swap.

I'm looking at my first slr and I have to disagree. Between the Canon t3i and Nikon d5100 the controls are way more user friendly on the Canon. With the Nikon you have to jump through hoops to make adjustments. On the Canon it is much easier to navigate to the setting you want to adjust. That is one of the plusses that I'm looking at wail trying to decide which one to buy.

No 'team' for me, it just so happens I use Canon and am happy with the brand. When I look at the photographs posted on the various forums, the first thought in my mind is not the brand of camera used, just whether it is a photograph I like, or a photo I find technically 'good' or one which makes me stand back for moment.

After all, how many times have people here complained that others say 'that's a nice camera, I bet it takes great photos'? Don't see many of those comments saying 'hey, that's a nice NIKON [insert brand name of choice], I bet that takes great photos'!!

Two amazing producers of great quality kit.

{P.S. Olympus and Panasonic and Sony are probably good as well, I just have no experience of them}

at the end of the day it all down to personal preference surely. Nikon suits me better

I have a foot firmly in the Nikon camp mainly because that's where I started and I don't like change! I do sometimes get Canon Lens envy though. I think Canon have a more complete range, particularly in the telephoto zoom department. Shame they paint them silly colours :)

So no response from the OP yet?

SONY. Same quality for a cheaper price.:D
Sony A55, A65 and A77 all beat their Cannon/Nikon competitors in the same price range tbh.
I also found Sony's the easiest to use initially.
Bye.:bonk:

Nikon/Canon, BMW/Mercedes, Intel/AMD, Suzuki/Honda, Subaru/Mitsubishi...

I treat them all equally, it's only a brand name game and doesn't make any difference to me. Just give me one that'll get the job done.

I drive a mercedes my computer is an iMac my camera is a NIKON  (but i,m not a brand whore) oh and did i mention my iPhone
