Yes
Showing the kids how to make popcorn in a pan over the Xmas hols. The dribbling of the butter, the sprinkling of the salt....

That certainly works.

You should look at your link on the main page. It takes you to the image in some Attachments page, rather than to this page. The link you want is found if you right click on "#1" top right.

Week 2 - Cold

Nice crisp morning of textures at the allotment.

Your chosen shot looks lovely!

Your blue shot (peeling paint?) is also great, and would suit a square crop in my opinion.

Food - Does what it says on the tine.
Quite busy although in close. I wonder if there would have been more impact if there were less in the photo.
Good start to your 52.

Cold - I was pondering a shot like that too. Works really well in mono :)

Food, feels like it needs something happening, dribbling syrup over it perhaps?
Cold, the roof is the shot for me, very descriptive of the cold

Shed roof, well identified!!!

Good tip on square crop, here's a couple, one with just the roof, one with some more context.

I prefer the square crop to the first on I posted.

The basket just doesn't work for me, even though I feel like it should, if you know what I mean. It was the basket that drew me to take the image in the first place.

Any tips/thoughts welcome!

Like the popcorn shot Tom, and you chose the right one for the cold theme, though, I might have gone with the frost covered plant as well

Interesting choices of canvas for this week.

Chosen shot:
Low angle wide shot of a beaten up but still regularly used van around the corner.

Runner up:
Who puts graffiti on a tree...

Love that shot of the van - the low angle really works for it.

Morning light creeping through the blinds and onto the ceiling.

Good concept, but sort of doesn’t work for me, as I’m not sure what I should be seeing. Sorry. Just my opinion obviously.

All good, I suppose having to go some way to explain it might means it's not as successful as I intended.

I was drawn the the abstract feel and the warm tones, but essentially it's a shot of my ceiling above my bed. It made me embrace the feeling of coziness and entrenchment against the inevitable getting up.

I like the feel and the lights colours and softness, but it could have perhaps done with a little bit of the curtains on the left to make it less abstract.

Nice abstract and I feel it could be made in to something of a set. There was a set of photos of just light on curved paper in the last few years which this reminds me of.

Cheers. I've thought the same in the past. Maybe I could set myself a project this year to compile a set of abstract light on ceilings...

Once explained it works. With no commentary it's a little too abstract for me for the theme, although ultimately in this challenge, it's about how you interpret the theme set, not how others see it.

Sorry late to the party - the van graffiti is very downbeat which captures January mood very well!

I really like your light shot - I might have rotated it and added more contrast to make it even more abstract. But it's great when light projects onto a wall like that, well captured!

Good tip, thanks

Hard to choose from a set I grabbed this week.

I think the first one is my favourite because of the layers/depth, seeing through to the chairs and stairs in the background.

Nice set of details - this is a discipline I struggle with and looks like you have done a great job.

Got a bit behind with half term and work.
Took this during the former!
