Task killers on Androids

Who uses and why, and who doesn't use and why . I read somewhere that these types of apps are old hand and can to an extent do more damage than good , Androids mange much better these days without these types of app due the the Android system being more advanced these days . Can anyone concur or is it a pile of tosh ? .

Waste of time. Tried a few of them and it makes no difference at all. Pretty much all the advice is that they are pointless but thought I'd give them a bash anyway.

Not needed, more trouble than worth etc. Android handles this itself.

I used to use Battery Saver (IIRC) on an HTC desire running 2.3 but never needed one on later versions.
