I have seen the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens on Onestop-Digital for a good price (£255) but does anybody know what the warranty situation would be with it?

Onestop-Digital state they supply a 6 month warranty (return to Hong Kong) but I believe Tamron offer a 6 year warranty with their lens. Would that still apply, and if so would that mean sending back to HK in the event of failure?

Many thanks for any feedback/comments.

Tamron USA offer a 6 year warranty on officially imported lenses into the USA, as the US have tighter consumer rules on electronics.

The UK market gets a standard 12 months warranty for official UK imports brought in via the UK distributor and then as you have found "grey imports" have different arrangements, with Onestop-Digital stating they give a 6 month warranty, but if repairs are required, you would have to return the lens to Hong Kong.

The 6 year warranty is USA only, UK is 12 months on UK stock.

This is a grey import and the lens warranty is with OSD, however I have had to return a lens to them and they replaced from stock and paid postage both ways so I was only without a lens for 10/12 days.

OK thanks for that. I didn't realise the UK only get 12 months warranty. Ah well, just need to find if any other reputable HK retailers give a warranty longer than 6 months.
