My Tamron 70-200mm has developed a fault. It all meters fine and camera and lens appear to be communicating fine in terms of exposure but the focusing has gone haywire. Sometimes it'll auto focus, tracking moving subjects, other times it just wont focus at all and it does nothing. Other times it rams the focus to infinity and then the camera makes a clicking sound as it tries to focus. In the viewfinder, even though the camera is set to AF or AF-S the viewfinder is telling me I've selected manual focus when I haven't. Also when I turn the camera off and back on the camera thinks it has a pre Pentax-A lens on it and asks for the focal length so it can set the correct shake reduction.
Putting the camera in manual focus and pulling the lenses own focusing collar back to MF allows me to keep shooting.
At first I thought it was the camera but I've tried all my other lenses and they all work perfectly so it is localised to this lens.
It's not been banged or bumped either which is frustrating, its been sat in my camera bag with the rest of my gear under the stairs where its cool and dry and away from my twin toddlers !
Cleaning the contacts on the lens and camera has done nothing.
So I've read that Tamron UK repairs are undertaken by Intro 2020.
Can I ask if anyone recently has had a lens repaired with Tamron or Intro 2020 and also the cost of the repair
Thanks
