Hi everyone
I really need advice!! Its a bit long winded... I bought a Tamron 18-270 Piezo drive lens at £400 from Jessops of course they are no longer in the high street. I got some dirt in the lens and my shutter release on my Canon camera was not working properly with the lens it was slowing down and not always functioning correctly, have insurance from Domestic and General purchased with the lens. I called them to ask about he prob I had with lens they recommended a company called Camtronics to get in touch with it was sent by courier and to cut a long story short came back with the lens seal marked inside and the lock button not working properly I complained to Domestic and General they wont replace it as they say the helped with the repair and undertook their obligation and not covered in insurance, they have made me sent it back again to put right I am not happy and didn't want to but had no choice, I am so stressed and very upset about my lens I don't know what to do I wish I had not sent it but sought advice and from both the insurance co and Camtronics who said it would be ok and they undertake this kind of thing all o the time the lens in my opinion is ruined, even if I accept the new repair who is to say that in a couple of months it will still be performing correctly, I have lodged complaint with insurance co but the have closed the case and told me to write in the wont replace the lens I have tried the CAB but cant get anyone to speak to me!!! fed up frustrated. any suggestions? Is there a Tamron dealer I can contact? has anyone else had this sortof problem

I've had similar experience with Camtronics whom took an absolute age to repair my Sony A55 camera which was also covered like yours.

Like you I complained and D&G refused to replace too despite having no outlook on the timeframe. In the end it took nearly three months! My only conclusion is they never replace if they can, even if it costs them more to disuade people from 'accidentally' breaking them to get the latest model.

In the end it came back with the rubber eye cup missing and to be fair they did replace it but again it took another week. They assured me this turnaround time isn't typical.

Tamron has a third party whom handles their repairs. I think they're called 20-20. You can find them from Tamron's website. I've also had two lenses fixed by them. Both very quickly. One under warranty, one not. Both lasted until I sold them.

In your case it's wait to see if camtronics can repair both faults. If they have then all's good.
