I want to try my hand at macro photography so I'm going to take a look at this lens in Jessops this afternoon, does anyone have one, and is it any good?

The reviews I've read seem to rate it highly.

I love mine, very nearly as sharp as my Nikon 70-200 f2.8VR and that is razor sharp!

Great lens for sure. Of course you will need a tripod to make sure you dont get camera shake in most instances (so dont be concerned if you try one in the shop and it appears soft..most likely will be due to hand holding in low light conditions).

Thanks for the recommendations, it seems I won't be disappointed.

I'm hoping to try out the lens in the shop.

Nice photos, Sue.

I hope mine turn out as good.

Well my trip to Jessops didn't go exactly as I planned.

Last Sunday I asked them to obtain a lens so that I could have a look at it and get someone to demonstrate it to me. They sent me a text yesterday to say it had arrived.

However, when I got to the shop, they had ordered a Nikon-fit lens. No use at all for my Canon camera.

They have informed me it will take at least two weeks, and maybe as much as 28 days to get a Canon-fit lens.

Funny how it takes 2 days to get the wrong one, but up to 28 days to get the right one.

Not a word of apology either - just a mumble about the two two code numbers being similar!!

Oh dear Jessops have let themselves down again. If you still want to buy from them I suggest you ring round a few of their stores to see if any have a Tamron in the Canon fit and if so ask them to send it to your local store. They should ring round for you themselves- I'm sure one of their stores somewhere will have one.

If you don't mind getting from Hong Kong then One Stop Digital have a good reputation and the lens allegedly in stock at £259

To be fair, they may have no stock of the canon one, but plenty of Nikon. All businesses run out of stock from time to time.

It is a very good lens, if they dont have it try Warehouse Express.

This is a great lens on my nikon d300.
