I have a Tamron 70-300 for my D3000 but have found I end up with purple fringing on a lot of my images.

Is there any way to avoid this at the longer focal lengths? Am I doing something to cause this?

If not is there any comparable alternative considering I bought this lens as I wanted a good zoom on a budget? (Not that fussed about the macro switch although it's nice to have it on there).

I have looked in Jessops and seen the Nikon 70-300 at over £400! I can say with confidence this is NOT an option for me and my bank account!! :'(

You can remove the fringing with photoshop. Have a look here.
