I have a Canon 550D and want to add a 70-300mm lens.
All the reviews of telephoto zooms currently seem to favour the Tamron SP 70-300 Di VC USD but talking to my local Camera shop the guy says Sigma produce far superior lens in terms of picture and build quality and I should buy the Sigma 70-300 DG OS (which is also cheaper).
The net result is I'm totally confused. Who is right, the reviewing magazines or my local dealer (who sells mainly Sigma lens).
Has anyone out ther got an objective view on this matter to help me make a decision.

I agree about the salesman comment but one has to trust someone.
The PhotoPlus review was the prompt for my Thread question as it was this lens that came top and that out of 10 lenses.
But I would still welcome comments on the relative quality and/or value of Tamron vs Sigma lenses.

Simply google *lens* v *lens* and you'll see a lot of useful comparisons...
