These look quite cool, especially with VC and weather sealing.

Someone has apparently pre-ordered, so perhaps B&H?

Interesting. The 35mm could well be a big hit I think if the price/performance ratio is decent. Note the Sigma Art-esque styling.
 
Well I can't read those charts to save my life, but its not supposed to be that far behind the Sigma 1.4 and on par with the Nikon for about the same money, with VC thrown in - not that it'll matter that much at 35mm
 
The MFDs are ridiculous, very impressive and a bit of a unique selling point for them.

You have to wonder if the 25 and 85 were originally part of this line but got swallowed up for Sony FE.

Where abouts is the rear element on the Batis lenses? if its close to the back of the lens then that's a very different optical design.

My guess would be that its more Tamron targeting where they think the market is, theres no Sony 85mm prime for the FE system for example where as there are several for Canon and Nikon DSLR's including well performing and cheap own brand F/1.8's. I think Sigma has shown that there is a bit of a gap in the market for high quality 35mm and 50mmish lenses on DSLRs.

That macro ability combined with VC , sealing and lower weight/price actually makes these lenses more interesting for me, especially the 35mm which looks like it could be a great versatile prime.

I suppose it could be coincidence... but even if it is I'm surprised they've gone for such a similar look. They're not a no name Chinese rip off company and I'd have thought they'd have tried to go for their own look.

The lens do look like they could be very tempting, but they wont fit my camera.

Will be looking at these with interest, the 35mm is half a stop(ish) quick than my F2 IS and the MTF chart looks very strong! The 45mm could fill my 50mm void since I sold on the canon f1.4. Nice to see Tamron upping the ant to should keep everyone on their toes and the pricing seems very competitive!

Be in interesting to see how the 35mm performs against the closely priced Nikon version.

I'm really not sure VC will be of any benefit for me on a 35mm.
 
The thing with VC is if you have it you can turn it off but of course if you haven't got it you can't turn it on so IMVHO it's a great thing to have if only for occasional use.
 
They look just like the sigma art series! Hope they perform as well as the sigmas mind. Cant quite work out why they choose to make two lenses with such a close focal length though.
 
Wonder when they will hit the UK market. The 35mm does interest me if its an upgrade on the Nikon version.
 
I would expect the price to be quite abit less than the nikon 35mm 1.8, much like the sigma 1.4 is quite abit less than the nikon equivelent. If so, it could be a very interesting lens.
 
45mm would be the one to think about for myself (I already have Sigma 35). VC is nice to have for sure. I would have preferred a 55mm one though; 35 and 45 sound pretty close. Sigma Art sounds like it closer matches my needs except the price. We'll see what canon does with their antiquated designs before making the purchase.

If your waiting on canon updating it's 50mm f1.4 you could be waiting a long time!
 
I'm a little out of touch with Canon nowadays, but didn't they just update the 35mm 1.4 and the 50mm 1.2?

Only 35 which is supposed to be even better than sigma art. 50 is only in the rumors and could take a very long time.

Well that's my hope for a decent £300 lens, not £5-700 one. I don't use these primes much so more money for ts-e would be good

Thats over a grand more, I (now) know its just been released, but even so....
 
$599 each in the U.S., directly that translates to £395, so add in VAT and the usual slightly increased Euro price and I reckon we will be looking at £499.
 
I was have lens selling regret when I got rid of my Nikon 35mm ED. In actual fact I was going to order another one this week.

The more I read about this lens, the more I think I want to try one! Might wait on UK prices and see how it compares to the Nikon.

Aye, I follow him too - yep, he really sold that format to me, I was (at the time) surprised when he moved on - now no so much :)
 
Well I used the Nikon 35mm today and pretty impressed.

Just got to decide whether to purchase or see how the Tamron performs.
