Hello
Does anyone have any experience with this lens. I am toying with the idea of getting one. At the moment I have a EOS 400D but will be upgrading to the 40D very soon :)

I've had the non-VC version of it for 3 years and I'm very happy with the results from it.

It's not the fastest AF but as a walkabout lens I'd give it 8/10 (just wish it had a wider aperture at 300)

Unless you never really shoot wide, I would also suggest that it's not going to be wide enough for a walkaround?

What about the 18-250? Getting some good reviews....

Cheers,
James

Hi Moos3h

That sounds like a better option. Is that a Tamron 18-250? I have a canon 90-300 but have trouble getting sharp images so looking for something with a similar focal range but a better quality image. Hopefully somewhere in the £300 to £500 range.

If you're looking that price range then do yourself a BIG favour and don't get one lens to do it all.

For around £350 used you can get a Canon 75-200 f4L or if you are lucky a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX.

Then use the change to grab a used Sigma 17-70 and you have yourself a VERY sweet setup.

Alternatively you could buy a new 55-250 IS (Canon) and a New 17-70!

Cheers
James
