Hi guys

Has anyone got or used this lens. Looking for some info on it to see if it's worth getting. Looking to get rid of my 70-300 and was wondering if this would be any good as a replacement.

Thanks in advance

i have one for my canon
it's what I would call a good daylight street lens due to its vast focal range
IQ is ok in good light
focus is noisy and a little slow and hopeless in low light
VC is odd as the image jumps quite significantly in the view finder and you find yourself recomposing the shot
it's a good lens if you are out and about and want to travel light taking general purpose shots where the huge focal range would be needed
it's light weight but not the build quality of an OE lens

Thanks tony, just been reading some fairly mixed reviews on it. I'm in 2 minds now tho something with that focal range from Nikon is round about double in price.

like I said it's an ok lens for street walk about during bright daylight IQ is ok
the mf is harsh as is the zoom but perfectly usable
your subject matter really needs to be fairly static or slow moving
you have bob hope and no hope of taking a pic of a bird in flight the AF is too slow, it is better to use MF for these shots which you soon get the hang off
good lens considering the price if you want a street walk about with huge focal range
As long as you aren't trying to compare it with a lens at twice the cost you will be reasonably pleased with it once you get the hang of it

Hi, i have this lens on my canon 650d, & as you have more than likely read elsewhere, i would also describe it as a jack of all trades master of none. if you are after very sharp images, then i would think very careful, as at the max end the images are very very soft if you view at 100%,

I had this lens, and although not the sharpest perhaps, it is very impressive for such a range.
If you want a carry around anywhere lens, that is lightweight with a wide focal range then I would recommend it. Yes, it won't compare with the more expensive lenses out there, but if you can accept that, and work within its capabilities, then for the price it is a good lens.
