tamron 17-50 - upgrade for Sigma 17-70?

Looking to upgrade my current Sigma 17-70 (pentax fit) and the Tamron 17-50 looks a promising option..

distortion at WA seems less, contrast looks good and the extra speed at longer focal lengths could prove useful..

would appreciate any user views?

Can't say anything about the Tamron on a pentax but on a Nikon it was fab! Nice and sharp.

How would you compare it to the Nikon 17-55 f2.8 given the Nikon is 3x the price?

me personally, its on par apart from the build quality, not regretted selling the Nikon 17-55 yet
