I am so very impressed by this little lens. it's very compact and very versatile for landscape. more importantly it's SO SHARP

below are just 2 shots sharpened using ACR

for £150 such good value for £

Yep, I tried about 4 or 5 wide lenses (as you do!) when the D700 came out, and the Tamron 17-35 was the most impressive by miles for wide angle, and comes SOOOO close to the Nikkor 17-35 f/2.8 apart from extreme corner sharpness.

Very hard lens to fault and way way better than you'd expect for the money.

Yep will be fine, I use it on the d700 which is the same sensor.

It's a great lens for the price. I picked mine up at Mifsuds for £150 thanks to Andy (Puddleduck) letting people know when it was going for a great price. I usually use the Nikon 14-24 but when I need to use filters or travel light I use this. Very pleased with it.

Chris :)

Anyone know if this Lens will be OK on a full frame D3

it's a full frame lens, i only have full frame now, cannot be bothered to deal wih vignetting on wide or long zoom it's just not worth the hassels

I got mine after PD's advice as well. Great buy indeed.

Yep, it's very good VFM.

The Minolta version performs pretty well even at 24MP (a900).

The only two niggles are the corner sharpness and it is prone to CA's (which seem to cleanup pretty easily). But for the money, it's a winner.

What's the distortion profile like, out of interest :|?

Personally, I'm getting a little miffed with the impossible-to-correct wonkiness that comes out of my Nikkor 18-35mm (full frame) at times and was thinkng about a change !?
