If you go on dpreview there is a thread about it with user comments. Basically seems very good but plastic fantastic.

The Tamron 15-30 G2 is also out very soon and I want to wait for that!
Yup that is a deal breaker for me too or at last was. Annoying enough the canon version has a rear filter holder!!I'm assuming that won't have a filter thread, like the current one? That's the real killer for me. I'm a bit greedy with this one, I want a lens that will serve for wider landscapes but also fast and wide enough for astro stuff. And it needs to take a Lee filter system. I currently have a Sigma 20mm 1.4 and a Nikon 24-70. Both nice lenses that do the job but quite a bit of money tied up in them and they weight a lot. My hope is that the Tamron 17-35 might replace both, with maybe a little 50mm to bridge the gap to my 70-200. I like that it's weather proof too. Big question is what it's going to be like wide open for astro. There is an astro image on flickr that looks promising but I might just wait a week or two and see what the general consensus is.
I'm waiting on a couple of reviews before I really make my mind up, but if it's good I am seriously thinking about getting rid of my Nikon 16-35 for one of these.
Probably because it's not a must own lens in terms of it appears to have a consumer feel to it, rather than say the new 15-30 f/2.8 G2. I'll give it another couple of weeks, not in any rush at this end.Yep, I'm trying to wait patiently. It seems strange in this era that youtube is not already full of 'hands on' reviews.
A poster on dpreview mentioned the lens is f/2.8 from 17 to 20mm, very handy for astro then!
Yeah exactly, and for the small amount of astro I do then it won't matter. It seems the corners are better than the Nikon 16-35 so that's good enough for me.Does look promising. Apparently corners are pretty good. Bit of coma but what lens doesn't?
Think I'll give it a few weeks and then take the plunge.
https://www.cameralabs.com/tamron-17-35mm-f2-8-4-reviewer s good. Perhaps not quite up there with the 15-30 2.8 but very good nonetheless.
