Tamron 10-24 or Sigma 10-20

I'm thinking about a wide angle lens to add to my kit bag... After lots of searching about I think it has to come down to one of the Tamron SP AF 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 or the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM. They are essentially the same price (around £350) on Amazon, and both get good user reviews on there.

So the big question; does anyone have any expereince with these lenses and have an opinion on which to go for?

I've the Sigma 10-20mm and am very happy with it.

The shots below in the flckr account were taken with it ...
 
Another vote for the Sigma from me. I was very happy with mine when I used it regularly. I dont use it so much now as I have a Nikon 17-35 2.8 which I tend to favour as I am one day intending to step up to full frame.
 
Most of the landscapes in my flickr are taken with the sigma, i've been happy with it
 
Personally I would always go for the bigger aperture, however you don't mention what kind of photos you are hoping to achieve with the lens.

The second point I would consider is whether it worth saving up a bit more and getting a lens suitable for full sensor. Generally lens for full sensor offer far better quality. I recently bought a sigma 28-70 mm lens with a constant f2.8 aperture. The quality was so much better than my half sensor lenses.

I have a Nikon so I know I can use a full sensor lens or half sensor lemmas on my camera. I don't know if Canon offers the same flexibility.

If not I would save up more for a bigger aperture like f2.8 as it does make a different especially in low light conditions.

But like I said it all depends what kind of photos you are aiming to take.

Thanks for the information everyone, unfortunately my budget won't stretch to a Tokina or Canon at the moment so it does seem that the sigma is coming out on top

If it is being used for landscape photography I'm guessing you wouldn't be using f2.8 very often.

Personally don't shoot landscapes at anything under F11, just personal choice, also when i researched the sigmas, the F4 - F5.6 got better reviews than the F3.5 (i think)
