Hi All, Starting this up to get a few answers!
I'm thinking of buying a Tamrac Expedition Backpack to hold my gear. I currently have the adventure 7, but have outgrown it very rapidly. So I wish to change up to a bigger bag, with room still to grow! (I hope to sometime soon buy a sigma 50-500) Typically I would have in it:
-Canon 40D gripped
-Canon 300D gripped
-Canon 28-200 f3.5-5.6
-Canon 50mm F1.8
-Canon Speed light 550ex
-15inch Macbook Pro
-A medium sized tripod
-Filters, filter holders, batteries, cards, etc...
-Any lenses I have hired, usually a large telephoto
As you can see this is an awful lot of equipment to fit into an adventure 7, so I'm looking at the expedition range. I have used one before, and have to say that it is the best backpack I have ever used. I really like Tamrac Gear, so want to stick to tamrac where possible!
Being a typical student I'm pretty much broke! (before I start a rather expense photography hobby!!) As such I have been looking at the tamrac Ex 5x. I'll only be using one bag all the time (unlike some pro's who use a different one everyday of the week!) so don't want to carry a monster of a bag with me! The Ex5 is ideal, and will have no problem holding my gear, except for the laptop. Some have told me the laptop will not fit, others have told me it will!
So that leads me to my question. I know the Expedition 6 will hold a macbook 15inch. Has anybody got an expedition 5? Can you check for me if you can fit a 15 inch laptop (or a 14inch x 9.5inch brick!) into it, even if it means stretching the fabric around the laptop. I've got a normal rucksack which is approx the same size, and it can hold a 15inch with a bit of stretching.
I have no problem buying a bag second hand, and have been on ebay for the last month, but just can't find any ex 6's going second hand or cheap! So that's why I am investigating the ex 5.
