I've just sent a rather p*ssed off email to Tamrac about their Explorer 2 camera bag (not the rucksack style bag)....

I went to London this morning and took my camera and 2 lenses with me in the bag. Just as I was approaching the train station, the bag fell off my shoulder, onto the pavement :( When I picked it up, I discovered that the metal clip that connects the shoulder strap to the bag had snapped clean in half

I didn't end up using my camera once I got to London, and haven't used it at all today, but I have told Tamrac that if it is damaged, they will be footing the bill! :rules:

I wait with bated breath for a reply......

Sorry to hear about your plight.
They say crying babies get milk :'( but knowing the customer services standards in our Gt. Britain I wud simply keep my fingers crossed. :shake:

the metal bit should'nt have failed, deffo a case for complaint

Don't you mean shouldn't!

Quite rightly so. Not sure about Tamrac, but I think Lowepro would certainly be interested to hear your problem (If it was Lowepro bag of course), as they have a lifetime warranty.

Do Tamrac offer something similar? Here's hoping you get a favourable response from them Cheryl

they're handled by intro2020 in the UK who I have had to contact in the past; latch on my tripod broke - the QR lever thingy-bob, made of flimsy plastic and looked to have been struck in transit, got sent a free replacement. bearingin mind it was a good year old or more by this point I reckon thats not too bad going...approach with reasonability and you'll be treated reasonably.

That would be a nightmare, especially if your camera or lens is damaged. Fingers crossed you can get it sorted

yeah i meant shouldnt...

its cos im ill

Got a reply this morning......
I have to return the bag to Tamrac so they can have a look at it. Just about to take it to the post office now!

Make sure mini they pay for shipping & handling too:thumbs:

I'm glad they responded Cheryl - was the camera gear all OK??

Well, I returned the bag to Tamrac yesterday as requested. Got a phonecall and email this morning, saying they will replace the bag, free of charge with the new version as my bag has recently been discontinued. It was probably a faulty clip as the guy hadn't seen anything like it before. Also, I'm getting a selection of Hoya ND filters for the inconvenience. Luckily, my camera and lenses still work ok...phew!!

The guy from Tamrac was really nice and very pleasant - now why can't all customer relations be like this

Too much job security we have Cheryl in this country so we take it for granted.
On the brighter side thank goodness we are not in France where firing somone incompetent is absolutely next to impossible.

nice result mini, good to see some customer services are working well

Thats great news. I think we could do with something like a "Suppliers - Tales from the good guys" Section.....:D

Glad to hear you've received good customer service. This is how it should be IMO.

I'm curious as to why it took you 2 days to check if your gear was damaged or not...

Good result. I must say I have a huge Tamrac shoulder bag which is probably about 12 years old, seen a lot of service and still looks pretty good.

Good news mini, nice customer also. Like people have said why carn't more firms be like that

Because I've been quite ill just recently :( I'm in a fair amount of pain and feeling really down - just couldn't be bothered I suppose  Add to that I'm in the midst of doing a shoot for college and wanted to continue the theme on the film in my camera.

I'm pleased to say that this morning the postman arrived with a brand new Tamrac Explorer 2 and 2x Hoya ND filters as promised (although they did send me 52mm, not 58mm as requested :bang:)

 to Tamrac for excellent customer service!
