TalkPhotography™ Day 2012

Keith pm me your address asap - I have a canon G4 doing nowt you can borrow for the purposes of sept 9th - okay its a compact, but it gives a degree of cretative control.

Well done Pete to the rescue, nice gesture, good man

Just to note this is all packaged up ready to go , but i missed the post office today - i'll send it off RMSD tommorow. When i got it out of the cupboard to check everything works I realised that it was a G5 not a G4 but whatever if it lets keith get a tp day shot then i'm happy

I've put an extra battery and a 256MB CF card in the box as well because the card supplied with the camera was only 32mB

Absolutely fantastic and lovely gesture sir. Nice one

Fantastic gesture by "Big Soft Moose", I knew this was a nice and friendly place, but his is just an amazing friendly gesture.

Get a few days to get used to the camera and hopefully something worthwhile.

Thanks again Pete:thumbs:

My pleasure keith - it wasnt acheiving anything in the back of my photography cupboard (where its my back up back up back up compact - for taking to messy events like stag nights) so if the loan of it lets you participate in the biggest TP day of the year then thats a  in my book

tips i'd give are to remember that its quite dated so it doesnt handle high iso terribly well, and also the veiw finder only shows about 90% of what the lens sees - so watch out for distractions near the edge. Also the LCD is pretty small and crap for checking sharpness etc - i usually turn it off to save power.

I think the manual is still in the box , but if not you can download one from the canon website.

Looking forward to seeing what you get

My own TP dillema is that my new toy - the samyang 8mm I bought from ferret - has just arrived - question is do i go for the big TP day inaugral fish eye fest , or do i play it safe with the shot i was planning originally - decisions decisions

Come on it's time for the big push, but we are T- 49hrs till the start of TP Day 2012 and we now have 120 people signed up to the wonderful day that is TPD2012 this is great but we can all do better so let's get the push on an make this the biggest TP to date :woot:

So if I'm reading this correctly I can just take my photo on the 9th my time (Australian) and send it in? I don't have to set my alarms and camera to British time?

If that's the case that's perfect! I have to work a 13 hour day for the 10th (which is the 9th to you guys) so if I can do it on the Sunday I can still take part!

I'll see if I can get something done.

I will give it a go , so I'm in

Great to have you both on board :D

Does everyone have a shot or 2 planned or are you going to wing it? Are you going anywhere special or seeking out local events?
Personally I have a shot in mind but if that fails I have a few back ups, if they fail for any reason I guess it'll be a pic of my dog lol.

Im just going to pick my best shot from tomorrow as were having a TP Day meet at Dunham Massey http://SPAM/buvzocb :D

The weather looks excellent, so I've decided to make an effort and do something special.
I need quite a lot to come together to make this shot happen and I don't want to jinx it by predicting the results.
If it doesn't work, then you'll just get a conventional landscape; but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something a bit different.

I don't normally go out with just a single shot in mind, so this is going to be both educational and fun!

Looks like the weather is not going to be ideal for my shot here. Can always fall back on an indoor shot if need be. In fact I think I may just do that anyway, give me a bit more control and hopefully a better shot than my last two years attempts.

Nice one Colin, I liked you seagull shot from last year, Ill have to rewatch the 2010 slideshow to remember what you posted then

2010 I sat for over 2 hours trying to get a decent shot of a dragonfly in flight. Ended up posting the least blurry one out of the hundreds I shot.
