After some thought I think I would like one of the Mamiya C* TLR's. I like the idea of being able to change lenses and of being able to do some close up stuff and the weight doesn't bother me.

Anyone any thoughts on which one and which lenses, quality of kit and image quality?

Just buy an RB67

No, I haven't the strength to lug a big beast like that around, remember I'm old and knackered.

C220's are smaller, lighter and a little more basic C330's have more information in the viewfinder and the shutter resets when you wind on but it's bulkier.

Both use the same lenses, a lot of the same accessories and both are a joy to use. If we have another meet up I'll bring the siblings along if you want to compare and contrast.

Mamiya TLR come in 2 flavours the C220 and the C330 (plus the early models but i am not sure of all the model numbers).

Both are waist level TLR machines and both take the same lens. I am not completely sure what the difference is between them but the C330 will be the less expensive of the two.

If it was me I would look for the C330f or the C330s which were the last models made.

About the size of a house brick, not to heavy and are virtually silent plus they have a large range of bits and bobs to do most jobs.

Lens are very good and sharp I know from using a C330f years ago that the 65mm, 80mm, 135mm and the 180mm are nice. The 180mm makes a nice portrait lens but you have to beaware or parallel correction.

Go for it Andy you know you want one.

Tis the other way round, the C220 is the cheaper camera ;)

Thanks  DOH! problem of writing while at work and doing something else at the same time

What would one expect to pay for a C220 in decent nick? I quite fancy a TLR for my Christmas though I know I shouldn't...

Ffordes have a couple in their used section C220 and C330 bodies for less than £130.

Complete C330s for £250

Last time i looked at flea bay they seemed about the same price but, as usual, i could be wrong.

Cheers guys. I'm thinking of a 330f or s and possibly a 55mm or 65mm lens as I want something a little wider than the Yash.

Go on Steveo, you know it makes sense, it's hip to be square.

Cheers Nick but the chances are I will have bought one by then. You know I can't wait. :naughty:

You and me both Andy. I've been giving some serious thought to a 330f/s and 55mm. Wouldn't bother with other lenses, I'm never gonna use 80mm when I've got the Rollei..
Just fancy something a bit wider now and then (summertime mostly)

Thanks John.

I'm already loving the 6x6 slides from the Ikonta but something a little more flexible would be nice not to mention (semi) accurate shutter speeds

My 330f with the 65mm lens(es) was about 150 quid from the bay and is as sharp as a sharp thing. I do like using it and a TLR is a good conversation starter when you're out. Last weekend a rather posh voice from afar said 'Oh, look, he's got a reflex!' A very pleasant chat followed and I went home with my first roll of Portra to develop...
