Talk talk ..

Mine hiccuped Sunday

Last night the damn thing went offline & flashing a pinkish colour. I thought, `Oh no this is going to be like bloody TalkTalk again!!!!!!!` :punch:

Unplugged it, then tried doing a PC re-start........still nothing!
It prompted me to try a couple of things.....nothing.
I even changed passwords etc because it said the log in etc wasn't working.

Nearly 2 hours I was p'ing about with it  (didn't help that I'd had a couple of drinks  )

I even tried the `factory re-set` ................. still flashing a pink light! :bat:

SWMBO came to see what all the cursing was about :cautious: then checked on her mobile.................broadband was down in our area & BT were on it.
It came back on 30 mins later.

(Note to self; Don't get so annoyed, especially when I've had a couple of drinks & check stuff out first before trying to change p/words etc  :$ :D )

Nothing wrong with Pink :D

That's another reason I went for BT, (one would hope) they have a vested interest in getting it sorted ASAP.
Not like the others that would have to contact BT / Open reach what ever it is... basically cutting out the middle man..

Nope.

BT Internet is a separate company in the BT group that buys wholesale connectivity from BT wholesale, like other ISPs, and the infrastructure is maintained by Openreach.

Openreach are obliged to treat all of their customers the same, to them BT Internet is just another ISP. The other ISPs make damn sure BT Internet don't get favourable treatment and basically OFCOM will drop the proverbial ton of bricks on OR's head if they do.

Hmmm OK, that wasn't my experience when I had issues with TT, so perhaps it was just TT being their useless selves then.

Yep, TT being useless is very, very likely to be the correct answer.

Not sure if it's earlier in this thread, or maybe another TT thread, but I posted about TT offering me fibre (twice) which I took up, only to be cancelled days later, on both occasions. It turned out to be BT/Openreach who'd cancelled because there wasn't the capacity @ FTTC. (I thought it was just TT being inept) It was a few frustrating weeks before I found out the reason.

Funny thing was though, BT rang me just after the 2nd cancellation & offered me fibre, which was suddenly now available! ;)

Yep, TT being useless ........

I do agree with that though. (y)

As I also mentioned a little while back, I was pointed towards the BT website by our very own local fibre for all gov.org dept. after waiting circa 3 years ....
I'm sure it's purely coincidental that it happened to me also :D
