I have it as part of my broadband deal... Never really bothered with it. The box is handy in that you can record 2 channels and watch another. Decent storage amount, and pretty stable - not found bugs yet after 3 years.
I tend to just stick to the freeview/recording/catchup players though. Tbh I've never seen anything on the talktalk section worth watching/renting.

Tl;Dr - It's not great compared to others, I just happened to get a good deal at the time.

Yes had it from the Beginning, works OK with only a few Minor irritations.

Sometimes, and only sometimes, FastForward jumps in increments of 30 Sec. but can be rectified by going back to Planner and restarting (from where you stopped it) then it works OK.

Catch-up only goes back 1 Week via the Guide and can only be watch there and then, does not record for later watching.

If you are used to Sky then can be a little slow in acting, i.e. a small delay in showing Guide, etc. to the point that you sometimes push the button again and it cancels the operation.

But its an older Box so maybe these are now Fixed.

And it does what it supposed to do and is quite useful as a Back-Up to Sky bur maybe SKY Q will render this no longer Viable.

Not sure if you "Must" have TalkTalk Broadband, we have had Talktalk from almost Day1 and it works OK for us with Speeds in the 70Mb/s (Town).

You'll need to take Plus TV if you want to record programmes, the basic You View box doesn't record.

We've had a TalkTalk Plus TV box since January.

Quite impressed so far. All scheduled recordings start and stop on time inc series record, which wasn't always the case with my previous PVR. The ability to use catch up services by scrolling back in time on the planner works well too.

Menu responsiveness just on the right side of acceptable - certainly not the worst I've seen. Make sure Eco mode is turned off so that it only goes into standby rather than hibernation else it takes an age to switch on.

Netflix app works fine.

Absolutely no noise from hard disc and no fan noise.

Finally, the picture quality on HD is excellent. Far better than from the built in tuner on our 15 month old Panasonic TV. Ditto the Dolby audio output from HD channels when played through a surround sound amp and decent speakers.

Regarding TalkTalk themselves - not so impressed. Fibre broadband speed down on what was promised, and communication is poor, although overseas call centre staff are impeccably polite and try to assist within the constraints that they are obviously working under.
