What do I enjoy about Photography

Photography allows me to create and capture moments that clients don't typically picture within themselves. I bring out the best in each subject and bring to life what they had not seen before.

Does that mean that sometimes they don't like the images you create? Many think they know themselves well, and would not appreciate being shown an alternative side: surprise is often an enemy in a well-ordered world.

No, it does not mean sometimes they don't like the image that being created. I really never experienced that, that's really something to think about. But as a photographer the job is to create a beautiful image.

But as a photographer the job is to create a beautiful image.

Beautiful is such a subjective term that has been terribly misused over the centuries. Perhaps it is not that appropriate in many circumstances.

There are some well-known photographs of Vietnam War, for example, which are both challenging to view and also culturally and politically important.

They are certainly not what you might call beautiful. However, I doubt anyone would say that Nick Ut ['napalm girl'] or Eddie Adams ['Viet Cong execution'] were not doing their jobs in taking them.

Even within the realm of portraiture, I'm not sure that beauty should be the only benchmark; better maybe to reveal something about the personality of the sitter.

There isn't one Photography, there are many Photographies. To say that photography's job is any one thing eliminates all the other purposes it can be used for.

If the photographer is working in a documentary mode then their job is to show things as they perceive them, not to create beautiful images.

We're a funny bunch here, so don't let this response put you off. I suspect we're all working off your statement:

Photography allows me to create and capture moments that clients don't typically picture within themselves. I bring out the best in each subject and bring to life what they had not seen before.

This says one thing to us, but I rather suspect you meant something different from the way we're reading it.
