Yes
OK so it seems there are a few cyclists/bike riders on here, myself included. How about a meet next summer, a nice ride, say 70-100 miles some photos for those inclined and some sponsorship for 'charidy mate.....'

Just an idea....

Of course, it could be geek heaven. Bikes and cameras in the same place. Can it get any better?

Pete.

I'd be up for this too depending where.

(two people from lincs allready cough cough!)

OK - will see how it progresses and maybe create a 'meet' thread soon enough...

I think it sounds like a great idea, I can't join you I'm afraid but I will sponsor you. Are you going to have a poll for the charity?

Also, where are you going to start and end? Wouldn't mind being at either

Haha, if this was two years, i may consider it, especially if it was off-road mountain biking, but i'm probably too unfit! haha!

Could be fun, but would depend on if the trip is road or cross country, and when. But i wouldnt be able to commit until much much closer the time, due to injury and impending op.

I need something to train for (i.e. an excuse to get off my backside, and out of the house), so depending on dates, I would be very interested in this...

That's two for the Bristol/Gloucester area!!! ;)

I am probably the unfittest of all the unfit, but will give it a go at my own pace lol

70-100 miles would kill me!
Although, saying that, the 5-a-side footy every wednesday and the squash every sunday (soon) will help increase stamina and fitness..... i hope!

depends if its on or off road, id be keen on either but im not much of a road rider (im fairly pants off road as well but....)

borrowdale bash anyone?

This tbh, however do you mean 70-100 miles in one day or over a couple of days?

I used to class myself as reasonably fit on a bike but more than 40-50 miles in one would probably killed me.

You could play football everyday for 6hrs a session, but it wont help to ride 100miles much. It will improve your fitness levels, and will make it faster to get to the mileage, like cross training. But the only way to get fit at the choosen sport is doing it, as the more to fitness then muscle strength, and areobic fitness.

But any fitness is great

Looking at the amount or riders TP has it will look more like the peleton of the Tour de France once it gets rolling:lol:

This kind of ride is normally done in under 6 hours. I'm up for this

On road on a road bike I guess?

I used to be able to do 30 miles in 3 hours (and then knackered), however that was off road on a MTB, so I guess I could probably have got there.

Yeah. Sub 6 hours would be a very respectable time. It's all about getting used to a steady cadence and spending a few hours in the saddle. And eating/drinking properly

I dont need to eat that much usually. A couple of bananas in the back door usually helps :D oh and a packet of lockets - loaded with energy !

I'd be up for this, can I request that we do it before June so I can use it as training for the London - Paris ride I'm doing...
