What makes the Talk Photography forums so good ?

I have been on several photography forums and none come near to the quality of this one.
In fact they have all suffered from a distinct lact of posts, unlike TP which rolls along nicely.

Once you reach 5000 posts the management pay you £2 per post*. Matt Sayle is currently saving up for the deposit on a new Ferrari

Its the freindliness and the fact that there is no camera bias whatever you use

Now sod off back to where you came from bringing your stupid Pentax views here

It'll never last ..All be over by christmas....

It's down to the admin staff having a gang of resident troll catchers that enjoy their job.

Sex drugs and Pentax cameras all in the same thread !!!! Cant think why the Mods havent pulled it ?
Pete.

its because those that do not enjoy themselves are instantly expelled. We send you to another forum where you dont have fun at all, when you come back, you really appreciate us.

I migrated here after 4 or 5 years on DPReview. I blame my sister. What wore me down about DPR was that even though it is supposed to be an international forum, it is largely monopolised by the Americans - as much as I love their country and visit it frequently. Many seemed to be oblivious to the international side of things, constantly asking questions like which magazine should I buy, or where should I shop and neglecting to state which country they were in - which immediately narrows it down. Many are amazed to discover that DPR is actually based in England.

Then there is the struggle to comprehend and read the posts from those whose first language isn't English. And even some of the Americans too. The arguments over spelling and grammar here are nothing compared to those on DPR.

Coming here after DPR is like having a nice quiet evening in with the family after a night at a club with the noise, chavs and yobs.

PMSL!!!!
Yup, TP really is THE best forum by far ... we have invaluable advice, the friendliest members (see above).
However, I think the biggest draw has to be the sexy staff!!! :naughty:

someone pass the mind bleach pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

There's a good vibe of photography skill over equipment here.

Another forum that I don't go on as much now constantly has the same questions over and over again, which 70-200 should I get, 24-70 Vs 25-105 blah blah blah ad infinitum. There is also a very strong 'American' feel to it which although I have no problem with Americans (I work for an American company and my boss is in the US) it's good to be on a forum like TP where everything is a little more relaxed and British/European :)

The only slight criticism I have is that I've noticed a few more sarky comments here now, but as the forum has grown so much since I joined that's to be expected really, it's certainly not a serious problem and that's something the mod team here can be proud of.

Actually, I believe that this rumour is true. I saw him in London the other day ....

Of course, he didn't stop to say "hi" or even a simple  .. but then, with his post count, and a car like that ... why would he

It's amazing the difference changing your perspective can have on a shot, here he is five minutes later, being given a little bit of advice about his driving.............
