Yes
On an iphone is there a way I| can walk round talk into my phone and it will put it to something like microsoft word or something.

Bit like a Dictaphone but it can be printed??

Not sure about Apple, but there is an app on android called ListNote where you can do speech to text dictation. The notes can be saved and shared, so you must be able to share it to a device that you can print from.

I didn't know that either - just looked at my new Touch - and it's there - this is great :D

Thanks for telling me about it

open the Notes app. Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard. Dictate. You can print out the note afterwards.

What version of iOS includes that feature?

Well I'm using 8, but it's been there for as long as I can remember.

It was introduced in iOS 5, over 3 years ago.

Thanks. Hmm I've got 7.1.2 but can't seem to find a mic icon on the keyboard.

I can however go Utilities/Voice Memos and record a note there which can then be uploaded to either Messages or email, but that is obviously not the same thing you describe, which would be much more useful to me.

What's to the left of your space bar?

Strange. I have a globe (but then I have the Spanish keyboard enabled as well as the English UK one) and the mic icon.

I've checked to make sure that there is no update of iOS for my phone. It's not the latest iPhone, but if it has been available since iOS 5 I can't see why it wouldn't be there. Unless iOS 7 was "improved" by removing that feature.

Like I said, I've had it since it was added to iOS 5.

I don't doubt that for a moment. I'm just puzzled as to why I don't appear to have it with iOS 7.

I have an app called a Dragon Dictation which does what you need I think. Worth a look on the App Store.

It works brilliantly with a number of applications. I was using it in the car earlier to dictate text messages.

I'm using iOS7 7.1.2 on a new 5th Gen Touch - so new it was only set up on Tuesday !

opening Notes - get the keyboard [ I'm set up for UK and Ukrainian ] and at the bottom , reading from Left to Right we have the 1st button [ for numbers] then the Globe then a pic of a microphone , the space bar and then return.

On my old Touch using iOs 6.1.6 opening Notes and getting the keyboard - no microphone

iPad2 using 8.0.2 - no microphone
