Taking your camera abroad

You really don't want to be putting anything in the hold that isn't in a fully padded flight case!!! Have you ever seen the way suitcases are manhandled??
 
One small thing to add, make sure you check and recheck that your baggage is within the weight limits. My last trip I only brought back just under a kilo of extra items, yet my case that weighed 21kg on the way out suddenly was tipping the scales at 25.4kg on the return flight.

As a result my tripod is now enjoying an extended stay in Australia :lol:

All this fuss about extra weight makes me wonder if they'll start weighing people before allowing them to board the plane? Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea :lol:.

Ah, very true :lol: I have just checked with the airline for the hand luggage dimentions and my new Tamrac back is pretty close :) Tamrac say it is "carry on" compatable but I guess that's more for the US market? So I think I will try but have my smaller backpack waiting with someone just in case.
