Taking snaps of young people and adults - usage of photos??..

Some friends of mine are organising a big parkour meet up, over about a day and a half, in London:

I've been asked if I want to go along and take photos of it all, which I am on the Sunday. There will be young people there of various ages.. I'd guess aged between about 14 and 25 ish. Now I know there's not really any restrictions of taking photos of anybody in public, but what about publishing/posting of any photos, whether it be on my blog, or if any newspapers/publications are interested in my photos of the event (and the people participating of course). Do I need to get any sort of consent; mass consent, individual consent? I know there's a difference between editorial and advertising for example, when using images of people. Do I actually need any consent. What's the best way to go about it? Thanks

Basically you should be OK to doing what you've got planned.

EDIT: To clarify,

The event is a public one held in public as such anyone can be photographed regardless of age
The use in the press is covered under editorial (same applies to your blog)
You can sell / give the photos to people on the event if you wish - you may wish to have your own rules for selling photos to only those in them but that's up to you.

Yes, it's an open event in the streets of London

Could you perhaps elaborate. I know for editorial (newspaper articles?) you don't need consent, model release forms etc etc. Is this what you mean?

The bit about editiorial is exactly what I mean.

You only need Model Releases if you want to sell you photos to another person for them to use for commercial purposes (e.g. advertising) and even then the release is there to protect the publisher against claims from the person in the photo, you the photographer are in the clear.

Sorry to drag this one up again. I was just wondering. Can I assume it's OK to give names of people in photos to a newspaper regardless of age? I might contact the local evening newspaper, who have covered the guys in Norwich before.
Does anyone know of any reputable London newspapers that might run an article on this sort of thing?
Also should I contact them in advance, and tell them I'm taking photos of this event and ask if they'd be interested in any, or do I tell them all about it after the event and see if they want any photos. Not really expecting any ££ btw!
