Hello,

I tried taking pictures on the RAW + L setting on my Canon, but when I put the photos on my computer I have two JPEGs of the same shot, but no RAW file.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Tim

Are you sure you have two files with the extension .jpg and not one with the extension .cr2 but the same filename?

That was quick! :)
Yeah they are just two JPEGs, named like IMG_4221 and IMG_4221 (2), same dimensions, same file size etc.

Seems to be a reasonably common problem possibly caused by hiding file extensions. See this thread for info (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=95163)

ETA - Mods. This just came up when I googled. Not sure if it's OK to post or not, but please edit if it's not.

How are you importing to the computer?

Cheers Babs, should really have googled this myself huh!
I think that last post gives me the answer, when I connect my camera to my pc I transfer using windows and not the Canon software. Seems really silly now, especially as the only reason I didn't use the Canon software was because it was something different ("we fear change..."!).
So I will try taking some more on RAW + L and use Canon software to transfer them.

Cheers

This works fine with Windows 7. I believe it must be an XP issue. Perhaps even Vista?
