Taking pics in RAW...

Shooting in RAW is like having a negative in the old 35mm film format. You can process the image and make whatever changes you want, which you then save as a Jpeg, but (here's the important bit) YOU STILL HAVE YOUR ORIGINAL IMAGE, UNALTERED!

If your camera lets you shoot both raw and jpeg use the facility. You can then back up to different places so ensure you do not loose important images. You can then afford to edit your raws knowing you have a safe backup.
