Going to Lagos, Portugal on wednesday for a week and had planned to take my 20D and a couple of lenses.

Any advice or things I should watch out for?

I have a Gems bag (same as lowepro slingshot AW200) and had planned to take it as hand luggage.

Is it a good idea to keep the lenses & body in sealable plastic bags as well as the rucksack? Obviously there is the risk of theft, but hopefully I'll be vigilant enough to avoid any of those situations!!
 
It doesn't seem to me to be a good idea to keep your gear in plastic bags. I know that when you buy stuff new that is how they are packed but I would be worried about condensation forming.
I may be way off the mark here but I wouldn't do it.
Have a nice time in Lagos. We went there a few years ago - so many restaurants so little time. You could probably stay there a couple of months and eat in a different one each night.
We spent the 2nd week at the other end othe Algarve. We took the train -6 Euros for about a 3 hour ride (change at Faro) - incredible.
 
Thanks guys, I must admit that I wasn't overkeen on the plastic bag idea.
