Taking Camera Equipment through Airport security

I went to Paris on easyjet and think the only weight criteria for cabin baggage was "you must be able to lift it into luggage rack";)

Not had any problems with Ryanair with my equipment and I've flown with them quite a few times now. I think it's just a case of being exceptionally unlucky if they happened to pull you aside regarding camera gear. Either way, I can't see the issue.

I'm looking to fly to Girona, Spain next week with Ryanair. I want to pick up my tripod but not sure will they let me go through with it in hand luggage. Does anyone have any experience in such situation?

I politely asked if a hand search could be carried out for my bag of 35mm film at Newark airport and was instantly told no . Guy was certainly not for budging either.

Only time I got asked about it was when I had all the charger leads in a plastic tesco bag in the backpack with the electronic items...

Camera, lenses, 2xds (mine and other halfs), ipod, iphone, archos 250gb hd, cables for charging for all, the plug adapters.

They took the wire parts out and scanned each plug and box.

Otherwise no problems. separated the lenses over mine and my other halfs bags. Always take the laptop out of the bag and its bag/case.

Only once asked to remove my trainers

Hi folks, no problem taking my stuff through security either at Birmingham or Luxor, went straight through the xray machine with no further checks. Will post a few pics from Egypt later!

Hi, thought I'd post this pic, until the trip to the airport we had seen little to do with the uprising in this fantastic country.

I'm not after any C&C as such, as it was taken through the window of the bus on the way back to Luxor airport.

London Stanstead - Girona
No troubles with tripod w/ head in a bag through security. Ryanair just asked to fit in the their "box measure" as the backpack looked quite big.

EOS 40D, 2x lenses, 430EX, plenty of Canon batteries & AA batteries, cables, chargers, memory cards, Manfrotto tripod with ball head.

Has anyone had any problems with flashguns btw?

At least we didn't, two bags with 430EXs.

are they ok with rechargable batteries? im going with easyjet to barcelona if that makes any difference

I think if you have crazy amount of them, maybe than will. We have travelled with 12 Sanyo Envelop per bag, no security check up.
