Yep thats just what I have done.

I moved up to DSLR this year from a Sony DSC H2 Bridge Camera. I had a lot of fun with it and thought DSLR was the next step up...... wrong. Most members on here post fantastic photographs and are obviously very good photographers, and I know it all takes time and wont happen overnight, but feeling happy and content is also important. I was neither with my 400D and really did not understand the basics or fundamentals of the equipment, so I have gone back to where I felt happy and comfortable. I have changed the 400D for the Sony DSC H9. It has everything I need and more to boot. I can play around with Tv AE and full manual if I want to and it is built for simpletons like me. The 15xoptical zoom will suit me fine and the image stabalizer is just what I need.

I dont see this move as a failure but as a move to relieve my frustration and ignorance of a very good canon 400D camera. I can only hope that someone else who can appreciate it more than I did enjoys it use. Maybe now I will be able to post some pictures on here that I'm happy with. To all those who helped me with adivse and direction on choosing the 400D, sorry:bonk: I will be staying around the forum as you don't get rid of me that easy:lol:

I'm sorry to hear it wasn't everything you wanted. Have you sold it or is it possible to get it out and use it a bit over summer?

Dont sweat it!

I took some of my best shots to date on P&S & Superzooms. If it works for you then who cares what you use to get the end result, its the pictures that matter :)

enjoy it and keep on posting.

Good for you.

I still shoot with a Canon A75 when I need it. As long as your happy. its about using a machine that you are comfy with, which in turn will lead to good to better images.

Excellent news Gazbag. :D

It's really good to see someone putting fun first with their photography. Most of the time I think that a happy artist is the most productive one.

I love my panasonic fz8 and wouldn't be without it, it's not a step back, it's a step to where you feel comfortable. ;)
