Yes
I've had a Mefoto Globetrotter Carbon Fibre for a couple of years, it's survived trips all over the UK & Icelandic winters but it couldn't cope with Yorkshire...

On a recent TPF trip to Spurn Point with @posiview and @blondie606 I was up for dawn, kit packed in my rucksack and tripod on the back.....

After what felt like miles walking along the beach (at rising tide) I decided "here is the shot I was looking for"

Went to set up the kit....

To find I now had a Bipod :(

It looks like the swaying as I walked must have gradually unscrewed the leg lock & now the entire leg is somewhere in the North Sea :(

I can get a replacement leg but MeFoto want £130 + postage (which I think is taking the ****)

So... Be careful with your Tripods !!!

So if you undo the grip the leg comes right out? Never knew that

I would argue with them and say that it's not a very good design that the leg can become unscrewed whilst walking and that you want some kind of discount as compensation.

It comes undone for cleaning, just didn't think it would be so keen to do it on a rucksack

I've hinted strongly, pointing out that a £350 tripod should not be able to dismantle itself !!

Yeah they must have a returned damaged one they could take a leg out!

True.

I snagged a 3LT Nigel in the sales for a good price, just got to decide whether to buy the leg or keep the Nigel (never thought I'd ever use that phrase...)

Have you looked inside your tent ;)

Strange that it unscrewed as there's llooaaddddsss of thread.

Have you called the cafe to see if it's been handed in?

Cheers.

I left my business card at the café with a note

Even if it was washed back up I'd guess that the rocks / shingle would have trashed it :(
