Has anyone seen this?

I was thinking of entering a couple of my recent photos from Scotland although I'm not completely confident that I would stand a chance.

Anyone else entering/have entered?

Hmm the only thing I have against this is that you have to pay to submit a photo that they seems to be willing to use in a book/merchandise, which again I am guessing they are going to sell.

16) By entering the competition, you grant Take a view and its sponsors and supporters a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images for any purpose connected with the competition. This may include, but is not limited to:

a) inclusion in the Take a view book;
b) display at any exhibitions;
c) on a secure web browser for judging purposes;
d) on the Take a view website and on the websites of sponsors and supporters;
e) for use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional & specialist press giving information about or promoting the competition; and
f) on any merchandise commissioned by the organisers.

Just seems a bit cheeky and making money out of other peoples photos. Granted the £10,000 prize is good, but how much more are they making from 'out' photos?

i only wish i was confident enough to pay to enter a landscape comp, maybe one day! good luck guys!

I don't think they're doing anything untoward. It's fairly common to charge for entry fees (to fund the prize money) and they're not stealing your copyright or granting themselves licenses to use your image(s) for anything other than stuff related to the competition. Perhaps selling the book and merchandise is a bit cheeky but I wouldn't call it dodgy and if you are a winner you do get massive exposure from competitions like these.

Also I dunno how many entries they get but they might have decided that the entry fees aren't enough to make money for the prize fund and are selling the books as an alternative to raising the entry fees?
