Take a beautiful bride....

....and a very talented photographer and you up with something like this (best viewed full screen):

I wish I had a tenth of his talent.

**EDIT** Don't know how that smiley ended up in the link!

Superb without a doubt - trained with the best too - and now commanding $5,000 for the Shoot alone, $7,000 if you want anything towards an album

Seems like a bargain to me (and no, I'm not being sarcastic)

There are some wonderful shots there for sure Colin. I have to say though ... do you even realise that you are quite easily equally as good?

Stunning. Wonder what his work flow is. :)

Lovely stuff but I think you do yourself an injustice Colin. ;)

On a side not, I was kicked out of the room when the bride was putting her dress on! :D

Thanks Marc, I usually get kicked out as well!

Cheers Jo but I know my limitations.

I agree, you cannot really put a price on shots of that quality.

damn.
no honeymoon shots ;)

Agree a truly remarkable talent... but only posting really because, having seen your portfolios hacker, you are doing yourself an injustice as you too have a remarkable degree of talent and more often than not, from what I have seen, have a bloody good eye for a shot.

Stunning shots in terms of composition, lighting, exposure, colours, everything but am I the only one that started to feel a bit seasick due to the angles? The bride looked like she spent most of the time on the tilt :(

edit: and yes, rereading the thread i have to agree that you under value your own ability Colin, there is no huge chasm between what you produce and these ;)

Truly great stuff, but I guess having a photogenic location as well as a photogenic bride and lovely blue skies helps... the groom looked like he'd just escaped from prison and been dragged through a hedge backwards by a Rottweiler...

I stopped part way through as I got bored after a while (too many pics with people in them   )
Having said that they were stunning pictures and yes he certainly looks as if his price tag is warranted.

Silly question though, as a non-wedding person it seemed as though he had masses more time before the ceremony to be able to pose the bride in the lovely surroundings, which I imagine wedding photographers here would not get as from what I see of posts its out of car, into church, out of church, 1/2 hour for photos, on to reception with little (if any) time to spare. So if you had the time and backgrounds that he appeared to have I imagine you would have done the same sort of job - perhaps you should increase your price and get tat sort of client!

Did notice that there seemed to be no guests at the wedding, just wondering if the shoot was staged at an alternative day/time to the actual ceremony, is this done at all?
Not being a wedding tog don't know the protocol.

Apparently it was a very small wedding with only about 7 guests, the photographer had an hour prior to the ceremony to do the bridal portraits and he obviously used that time to great effect.

Was about to post that as well...Not a fan of the angles either, they just make me tilt my head!! But the vast majority of it is completely stunning.

I was thinking that I must have different eyes to you all, or my grouch hat on today as I was really less than impressed.

They are very highly glossed shots in a great location. Technically good and lovely bride to work with but for me, very little interaction throughout that whole bride series. It wasn't that long before I was thinking is this woman ever going to get married or is she just wandering about looking enigmatic.

It is good work but frankly, this is what people charging to produce wedding albums should be doing and quite a few of the good folks here do. Other peoples work always has more impact than your own.

there are some amazing images there! the bride is gorgeous which must help a lot but i agree with a few of the other comments; there wasnt much interaction. The other observation i made was the photostream began with the best images and as you i filtered through them all they became less impressive. perhaps it was the angles or how casual the wedding looked. not sure but loved the first batch!

I agree with Dazzajl..... and I bet he'd wet himself faced with togging at Badminton  :naughty:

Tara

oh dear, at the risk of being a grump i dont think they are that good at all.
i dont like some of the focusing and i really believe he could of captured her essence much better than he did.
thats just my opinion so dont shot me...

Be a grump and proud DD. You dig that old ditch, you'll have me and Tara sat with you at least.

Lovely set....nice to see he got a sneaky shot of the bride's tattoo at the base of her back.

There's one shot that is niggling me though - picture 12 (the one with shoes facng each other), I can see the focus is on the very top of the ankle strap however if you look closely at the shoe on the right the word Paris looks strange (like the lens is not focussing correctly)...I may be wrong though.

why thank you. look out for a big green kawasaki i will be rumbleing and grumbleing through calne to the bike show this year

Good to see its wasn't just me then that wasn't amazed by them, yes, they are nice images but I don't see anything that I haven't seen from other wedding togs.

Ok, here's a question, the pics of the bride getting into her dress. ( Not just this set but any with her half undressed) I for one really do not like them at all, What is it supposed to convey? I don't mind the the one of her mother helping to do up the buttons but the the fist one to me is just not right for a wedding? Don't get me wrong, I am no prude by any means but it just is too much for me.

If you ask me I think the photographer in question would do well to spend some the the money on a spirit level. I've haven't watched the complete slide show as I found the continual use of slanting images too tedious.

okay, nice pictures, particularly the ones of the bride as far as exposure goes, pre-groom shots needed some fill in flash or a reflector to get rid of nasty one sided face shadows

other than that techincally very good, unfortunatly also very wooden, not much emotion going on, not many moments Caught as pictures Made i feel

looked like a stunning wedding :)

WOW , i loved every single image... the images seemed perfect, lighting, focus, composition etc... also the photographer seemed to have a great way of getting different obscure shots.... The bride went to all that effort and the groom wore trainers..

Can't say I was overly impressed, those tilted shots become really tedious after the first couple, the rest weren't any better than I've seen on here.

For some reason I was expecting the last shot to be of a pick-up truck with a shotgun rack, emblazened with "Just married" across the back :naughty:

Very nice, thanks for sharing.
Have you seen Mark Ridout's work? Not sure how well known he is but i found his website a while back and was blown away.

That Mark is pretty good to!

Colin I really do think you underestimate yourself :p

Nice pictures of a pretty woman but like others have said, nothing really made me think "wow, I must get him for my wedding" (if I ever have one) Not much emotion in those pictures IMO.

i fully love the groom's outfit, with his skate shoes and all! Bless him, he's pretty cute I thought Dekhog! lol.
But yeah, photographically, they're beaut like! if i had the money i'd definitely want to invest in a great wedding tog like him, i friggin love looking back at old pictures!
