Tabletop kit

That looks pretty good to me. I do like those lamps, may have to get a pair of them!

Hello,
Might be worth looking through this enormous thread :

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=281524

Some cracking shots on there and a big discussion on getting the right results. I built my own lightbox after watching that thread for 12 months!

Thing to remember is that most if not all of the stuff you are going to shoot is not going to move - so long shutter speeds are not going to be a problem provided you use a tripod - in other words, mighty powerful lights are not absolutely necessary.

If you DO start to plough through the above thread, be prepared to spend half an hour at least going through it ... and then to return to it time after time.

I haven't got anything that involved, but on a similar line, I recently bought an e-photomaker. it doesn't come with lights, but you can use an anglepoise lamp like it shows in the picture. it only needs lighting on one side as the other side is silvered, the kit even comes with a white/grey card. the tent is a decent size and it only cost £50 from jacobs :) I'm at work atm, so I can't post an example image, but if I remember later, I might do so then :)

I would imagine you could always use a wireless flash at the side instead of and anglepoise lamp?

Just be careful if you used "mixed" lighting as this can throw your white balance way off. One of the aims of good product photography is a clean and neutral background. If you mix your light sources, you are likely to get shades of whatever colour your neutral background actually is.

Take care too with the EBay fold up light tents which look a good buy - they are so so difficult to get back into their pouches! (At least the big ones are - the one I bought is folded flat in my picture framing workshop - but NOT inside the very small round black pouch it came in). There is a YouTube video showing you how to get these things back into their pouches but mine still has me beat!
