After selling my laptop i'm now looking for recommendations for a tablet of some sort so welcome any input. A few requisites are that it needs to be at least 9.7" and it will be mainly used for web browsing, pdf magazines, films and storing photos's when required as well as playing avi files etc.
Firstly, I am ruling out an iPad as greater storage can be achieved at a lesser price and so far I am looking at the Galaxy tab s 10.5, the tab pro 12.2" & note pro 12.2".....do the different screen types make viewing a different experience on these tablets?

Thanks in advance.

Frank:-)

Thanks viv.....should have gone to spec savers!

Been working away for a while and got a bit over excited that I now have time on my hands again to lurk around again:-)

No problem.
The other thread was so recent I thought it worth a mention. :-)
Love your name explanation btw. :-)

Went with a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2" in the end, a bit bulky for some maybe but I have found it an excellent replacement for my old laptop.

Oh I was looking at tablets in PCW at the weekend and the Samsung Pro looked jolly nice. Happy with it?

Good call not getting an iPad. Mine developed a dead strip of touchscreen down one side after 15 months. Took it to Apple store :"tough sh*t mate, out of warranty, want a refurbed one for £260?"
£400 and lasted less than 2 years. Wonderful.
Off to look at this Galaxy pro myself...

Very happy with it Jonathan. I did consider the Tab S but prefer the larger screen of the 12.2 pro, the amoled in my opinion is more suited to a phone.

If you fancy the 12.2" then go to the Samsung site as they have just reduced it from £399 to £330.

well vicodin was f*****g brilliant... , oh wait (hey someone had to say it  )

No personal experience of anything over 7 inches but Ive head good things about the nexus 10 whjich may be worth a look

Same thing happened to my sons and they replaced it without any questions

Grabbed an lg gpad 8.3 for silly money recently and its fantastic! Even pairs with your phone to receive texts/calls etc although you cant answer the call you can see who is phoning and decline with message. You can also reply to texts direct from the tablet and the screen is superb!

Google nexus used to have the best spec for the money 2-3 years back i don't know if this is still the case.

Should have kept the laptop my tab annoys the hell out of me i like a keyboard.

the new hudl2 looks promising 8.7 screen and a faster processor ... I just need to save up 60 quids worth of tesco vouchers now (they are doing £5 on vouchers = £10 off)

I was looking to one of those for our 10yr old daughter. But they don't seem to do them in Tesco Ireland.

She had an ipad mini but the bloody thing refuses to charge. I've rebooted and hooked it up to itunes to back up etc ... 3 times now, nothing. It did come back to life briefly, but only until it needed charging again, then died once more. As this happened to my iphone 5 also months back, I an wary of apple products [though my own ipad mini is still just fine almost 2 year later] - I would like an iPad air ... but ... can't trust the life span.

Yeah it does. Sadly I don't have any vouchers left because I was fleeced of them at Halfords (short version - you have to pay a lot more for stuff to use the vouchers). Curiously the voucher offer makes me less inclined to buy a Hudl.

Have you tried any out yet, that's my yard stick are they user friendly

Had the Galaxy Pro 12.2" now for around six months and for me is the best tablet I've owned to date. It may be a tad too big for some people but I prefer the larger screen and usually have to hunt it out as after the tv it has become the favoured choice for iplayer etc, even with my apple fanatic daughter lol. Plex has been installed on it as all my dvds have been backed up to the pc which is great if you are out and about and need to fill some time as you can just log in and watch away.
Despite being used to the iPad screen size and the little bit of extra weight I don't see myself going back to apple any time soon.
