In my opinion and it's only mine, a tablet is no good for stuff like this - yes it's fine to muck around on, but I find they get very limiting very quickly.

I tried to move to a tablet only existence, but always come back to a laptop as I find it gets frustrating when you want to push things a little further.

Just my opinion of course!

If you want a good laptop, try Argos, the Asus K55A laptop they sell at £349.99 is very good, 1Tb of hard drive space and 6Gb of memory, perfect for all PP work.
I bought one myself and I am loving it.

I think a tablet would be virtually useless for this in all honesty. Much better off with a laptop.

Well, I have both a laptop and ipad with camera connection kit, if I am out on a long trip, I take my ipad with me, take tons of photos, then, use iphoto to edit them, but, always end up doing final edits using my laptop or desktop, but, I agree, if choosing one or the other, go for a laptop.

I was just in the same situation as you and ended up going for a laptop went for an i5 processor with 4gb ram and 500gb hard drive. Went for a Dell in the end. They have some with same processor 6gb of ram and 1tb hard drive in there January sales for £379 in there boxing day sales.

It comes down to whether you want to just consume content, or consume and create content.

If I could only have one, it would be a laptop every time. I love my ipad, and with eye fi and a camera connector kit it's incredibly easy to snap, edit and upload my photos in minutes. But that is usually only for quick edits and snaps, not any real processing. A tablet can be incredibly limiting at times.

Lenovo are the laptops to go for. Save On Laptops do some good deals, or eBuyer.

Get both.

I have a laptop (Dell XPS 15 - £650 student discount) and it is my desktop replacement, and as of yesterday I bought a galaxy tab 2 (£158 currys sale) - so I can sit on forums/facebook and do basic web browsing - without having to lug a huge laptop around.
